RCI Chinese New Year Celebration 2019 Report
On Feb. 2nd, 2019, Redleaf Cultural Integration successfully organized it’s 5th Chinese New Year Celebration Event at Glad Tidings Church. There were about 500 people in attendance at the event.
MP Jane McKenna, Mayor Marianne Meed Ward, Ward 2 Councillor Lisa Kearns, Ward 5 Councillor Paul Sharman, and representatives from many community partners attended. MP Karina Gould also sent a video greeting from Ottawa, wishing everyone a very Happy & Prosperous Chinese New Year.
The event included a cultural exhibition. On display were traditional Chinese watercolor drawings and calligraphy, as well as traditional toys and games that attracted people of all ages. The main show consisted of performances by various artistic groups from diverse cultural communities.
Special thanks to Redleaf Choir, Redleaf Senior’s Association, Yuanyin Arts Group, Yangyang Dance Studio, Kaleidoscope Chinese Performing Arts Group, Burlington Bollywood Dance Group, Persian Dance group, and Burlington Ukraine Dance School.
RCI is dedicated to helping newcomers have a smooth transition adapting to their new country and community. Lily Hudson, the founder of RCI, said: “RCI will continue to organize similar community events that connect people together, to celebrate diversity and unity, and to make Burlington a more welcoming, vibrant, and dynamic community!”
演出前后自由活动时间，大厅里人头攒动，春潮荡漾，热闹非凡。喜悦 的人们有的享用茶点，有的相拥畅谈，互致问候和祝福。有的请“福”字选春 联，倪彦勤和邓兆林先生当场挥毫泼墨，热情满足宾客需求。梓涵画室带来 许多自创的国画作品供大家欣赏。儿童游戏区有许多传统的玩具，供小朋友 们做游戏、猜谜语，大家玩得开心无比。无声竞拍区有几十种赠品，供大家 竞拍，争个好彩头。手工编制和甜品义卖区，供大家各自选购喜爱的手工制 品和美味甜点。最吸引人的是全家福照相区。亲朋好友在“红梅绽放枝头，幸 福和顺人家”巨幅背景图前争相拍照留念，镜头聚焦留住这美好幸福的时刻。
“立春”，春姑娘迎着风雪悄然向我们走来，春天的脚步越来越近了 。2019，新年伊始，歌声嘹亮。“一路欢歌旋律美，春回大地谱新章”。祝愿红 叶文化协会不断发展壮大，康乐之家越办越好！人寿年丰，幸福安康！
