On June 9, 2019, Hongye Cultural Association Knitting Group Summer Day Tour.
We first arrived at the Wellwood Cancer Community Center in Hamilton. After weaving blankets for cancer patients for two years, our weaver girls were able to see the organization of this project and learn about the community's work for cancer patients and their families. The Wellwood Cancer Community Center was established 30 years ago. It gathers the experiences of people who fight cancer in their lives and work, shares their wisdom, and helps everyone to alleviate the hardships of the fight against cancer. The Weaver Girls of Recreation Home have made 180 blankets so far, all of which have been donated to cancer patients through Wellwood, which conveys the care between people.
Apart from making blankets, the weaver girls also exchanged knitting experience with each other. The sun hats in the picture are made by everyone themselves. Through weaving we have gained friendship, learned skills, and a lot of fun. On the day of the visit, we also went to a small waterfall nearby, and ended up with a rich lunch in the flavor garden.
On June 9th, RCI knitting club visited Wellwood Center.
